WHAT MADE YOU TRY 5WT?

Well I never thought I was badly over weight and then when the opportunity practically arrived on my lap – I thought “well let’s do this thing and see where it actually takes me!” I figured there was always room for a few kilo’s to be shed and its usually those “neither here nor there” nagging ones that seem to just cling on for dear life. With my wedding coming up in 3 month’s – I felt the timing was great and I went for it and MAN what a fantastic difference it made! I didn’t realise how good that 5 or 6 extra kg’s looked when not on my body!

My hubby did it too and lost more than I did!

TAKING CONTROL?

A very empowering experience and highly educational learning about food and nutritional values and portion control!

PLANNING? DID IT HELP?

Planning is essential and I now know what to shop for when doing my groceries, it has become second nature now and is on auto-pilot in the unconscious mind in ways that serve me better!

We don’t follow it religiously now like we used to when on the programme – yet we have managed to keep the weight off and feel great! We certainly reset our setpoint.

LESSONS LEARNED?

We generally eat far more than we need to and the importance of drinking water, lots of water and how that helps massively! If I don’t drink enough water now I feel it…never mind the proven fact that our brain –  when only 10% dehydrated – is 50% less efficient!

DID YOU BATTLE THROUGH PLATEAUING?

Nope, we did very well actually!

WHAT MADE YOU TRY THE 5WT?

I was battling with my energy levels with the long working hours of my profession. Because of this, I was skipping meals, lethargic and was gaining weight even though I was training 6 days a week. The scientific approach to 5WT interested me and because I have tried almost all other eating plans, I figured I would give it a go.

ENERGY LEVELS?

Out of this world! After often hitting mid-afternoon “slumps”, I found the regular snacking and the programme supplements kept my energy levels high throughout the day. I also slept a lot better which meant I woke up refreshed in the mornings.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE?

I put my mom onto the programme – she suffers from chronic pain and auto-immune diseases. She not only lost weight, but her pain levels reduced, her energy levels improved, and she felt a lot more like herself again. She lost close on 18kg after 3 cycles.

TAKING CONTROL?

Planning and meal preparation was key. Always having a protein bar at hand was important in case I didn’t have time to eat in between patients.

RECOGNIZING TRIGGERS?

I don’t battle with cravings – having wine after meals instead of before – was a good start, and also limiting my alcohol intake.

PLANNING? DID IT HELP?

Having various food options to choose from helped. I also found it easier to prepare as I realised what worked for me within my working day.

LESSONS LEARNED?

I still eat according to this. If I fall off the wagon, I do 2-3 protein days to reboot my body and find that snacking on protein really keeps the blood glucose levels stable, which means that my energy and concentration levels are high throughout the day.

DID YOU BATTLE THROUGH PLATEAUING?

I did tend to plateau in the beginning but we realised, through the coaching of Sue that I was training on an empty stomach in the morning and then only eating my breakfast 2 – 3 hours into my day. I simply added a protein snack to my day before I trained which really helped.

Drink more water, eat every two hours, try to exercise everyday a little more.

A little – but Sue was super amazing and always changed my diet to kick start it again.

WHAT MADE YOU TRY 5WT?

I was doing gym and wasn’t getting the fat loss results I was hoping for. I realised making a dietary change was the only way this was going to improve. I had considered the 5WT in the past but it hadn’t been the right time. This seemed like a good time for me when it came up.

ENERGY LEVELS ON 5WT?  

 

I had good energy and the multivitamins gave me a boost I really needed.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE?

My boyfriend joined me on a cycle and lost fat, even though he didn’t look like he had any to lose. He has now gained weight from muscle mass at gym and is happy with his definition.

My sister (in the picture) also joined the programme after seeing my progress and has made good improvements, she has also been encouraged to exercise more and is leading a much healthier lifestyle. I also influenced many of my Facebook friends. I am a firm believer in the benefits of this programme long term.

TAKING CONTROL?

I did not find it difficult to follow; I am a rules person and when I have rules to follow I do my best not to deviate. Having Sue as backup was also vital. When you can message someone when you aren’t sure of ingredients or you have someone to ask what to do when you have a function – makes the whole process much easier.

RECOGNIZING TRIGGERS?

The programme teaches you key new habits which can help eliminate triggers. The most important thing to have available is healthy snacks.

I think that one of the most important things Sue spoke about was sabotaging yourself into success. If you remove any potential pitfalls and prepare healthy options you can only succeed.

CRAVINGS – BEFORE OR AFTER?

Protein days were probably the hardest with regards to cravings. But the great thing is that you can snack every few hours. So it never really lasts too long.

PLANNING? DID IT HELP?

Planning is vital. Making sure you have enough snacks and items for meal prep makes sure you keep on track.

LESSONS LEARNED?

Try walk more (trick yourself into getting more steps, take stairs etc) Just be sensible and if you have a hiccup just move on and eat better from next meal.

DID YOU BATTLE THROUGH PLATEAUING?

I did experience a plateau in the first cycle and tried the plateau menu. This got me back on track. When I did the programme Vegan I did not experience plateau.

Yes, planning helped a lot. It made shopping and menus easier.

Make a concerted effort at the beginning and it gets a lot easier. Exercise and healthy eating go hand in hand.

A bit… but i persevered (with Sue’s help) and I saw results

WHAT MADE YOU TRY 5WT?

I was overweight, having mastered the art of yo-yo dieting, and I wasn’t feeling healthy. I was struggling to fit into my clothes, unjustifiably denying the fact that I was getting larger. I eventually gave away some unworn, good-as-new clothing (that I had bought in hopes of losing weight), because I wasn’t getting any thinner. I could hardly breathe when bending to put shoes on in the morning, nearly having to come up for air between each shoe as if I’d been held under water. I used the excuse of “oh I’m just big boned”. I was buying bigger, baggier clothes because I wanted to hide my plumpness. But as much as I could hide the doughy lumps, I couldn’t hide the feeling of fatigue and just feeling “flat”.

TAKING CONTROL?

I’m down from a size 38 to a size 34. I moved up two notches on my belt. I can breathe while putting shoes on, I can fit into old clothing that used to be too small for my once overweight body. I’m less at risk for health problems. I feel lighter, I feel more comfortable, I feel more energetic and full of life! I feel confident, I am happier and I am so excited to have found something that WORKS!

Planning really helped so that I knew exactly what I should eat and how much. It took some time in the beginning, but once I knew what I could eat, the prep became much easier.

Portion control and moving are key!
